This site was designed using Warnock Pro as the display font. Designed by Robert Slimbach, Warnock Pro is a type family named after John Warnock, the co-founder of Adobe Systems, whose vision led to major advances in desktop publishing and graphic arts software.

North40Creative selected Warnock Pro because of its classic proportions but contemporary energy—it is a typeface fit for the poetry of Wesley McNair.

All of the graphic book illustrations were created custom for this site by North40Creative. The palette of brown, green, and orange was meant to emulate the private press book design of the 1940s.

Every photograph (except Boy Carrying the Flag) was shot by Joshua Bodwell, specifically for this site, with an iPhone camera and run through the CameraBag app’s “Helga” filter.

The portraits of Mr. McNair were created by Maine photographer Fred Field. See more of Fred’s work here.
